Biography

Short Biography

Domen Dimovski (1995, Kranj) is an interdisciplinary visual artist working in digital graphics, animation, video, and painting. He completed his education at the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana in 2014 and continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, specializing in Video and New Media within the Department of Painting. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2017 and his master’s degree in 2019.

Dimovski has participated in numerous film festivals and has exhibited in 18 solo and 95 group exhibitions. His work has been recognized with nine national and two international awards, most recently the DigitalBigScreen 360° Award at the Speculum Artium 2023 festival. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Slovenian Association of Art Societies (ZDSLU) and serves on the Artistic Council of the Art Society Kranj (LDK). Additionally, he curates the video, animation, and short film section at the Kranj International Festival of Fine Arts.

Through both still and moving images, his work explores the overlooked tensions of contemporary society and the atmosphere of a world in transition. His current research investigates the role of art in contemporary society as a complex procedure of truth, encompassing its cognitive-affective, aesthetic, and phenomenological structures.
